A beautiful country with wonderful people !
Even being born in Germany, Switzerland is that country in this world which gives me a sense of home, it is my homeland.
I never lived before somewhere else, where my unknown neighbours welcomed me and my family like they did. Whenever we needed a hand, the hand was there before we needed to beg for it. This happened to us always and everywhere, in government agencies as well as on the roads. Our youngster, Luke, was a small schoolboy when we moved over there and it’s very normal having big differences at school ‘s subject matters. On his 1. day in his Primary school his teachers already had organised additional tuition to get him on their level (all for free, we didn’t had to pay for it or search for private help). Of course Luke had also a couple of advantages in a few subjects…. He was welcomed with a big poster illustrated with pictures of all his new colleagues and his teachers – to help him getting acquainted with all the new faces as soon as possible. A few years later he went to the Secondary school, which is also a very exemplary one – both schools are highly recommended !
For all of us Switzerland was very well situated : close to Germany, when we wanted to visit friends and family ( or just driving the bikes with high speed on a freeway ) and when we needed warmer temparatures we just had to cross a part of the Alps to arrive in the italian part of Switzerland or continuing to Italy, France and so on – easy doing.
Especially while riding our motorbikes we enjoyed Switzerland…..
The Lake of Constance is surrounded by three countries : Germany, Switzerland and Austria; at his longest part 63 km long and up to 14 km wide, its deepest part is 254m, in average around 90m… that are 48 km3(48.000.000.000.000 liter ) of water. Good to know for Scuba Divers : it is 395m above sea level, so it’s a mountain lake !
In a rough weather condition you wouldn’t believe being at just a lake, it looks more like the ocean, with huge waves and current.
We were very lucky overviewing the Lake Constance from our terrace, enjoying lots of incredible sun sets, which easily can win in a competition with a South Seas or Maldivian sun set.
